The Madhya Pradesh government has announced to institute a national award in the name of renowned social activist Padmavibhushan late Nanaji Deshmukh. Addressing a lecture series on Nanaji Deshmukh at Mahatma Gandhi Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya in Chitrakoot, state’s Higher Education & Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma said this award will be given to the individuals or institutions for excellent work in the field of social service. Mr. Sharma said that a Research Chair in the name of Nanaji Deshmukh will also be set up at the Vishwavidyalaya.
