In Madhya Pradesh, the state government has decided to grant exemption to the people of economically weaker section from paying stamp duty on the deeds executed for houses and plots provided to them by government agencies. The exemption will be available on the sale and patta deeds executed with regard to allotment of residential houses built by Madhya Pradesh Housing Board, urban development authorities, Madhya Pradesh Awas Sangh and urban bodies. The state government claims that economically weaker section people will get benefit of about 200 crore rupees in 2010-11 owing to this decision.
