In Madhya Pradesh, the death toll has risen to 22 in Dewas bus accident. Over 20 people are reportedly still missing. A passenger bus carrying over 70 people had fell into Bagdi river near Khategaon in Dewas district last night. Several passengers were swept away by the strong current. Dewas collector Pushplata Singh told our Bhopal correspondent that 33 injured had been admitted in hospitals and most of them have now returned to their homes. AIR correspondent reports that 22 bodies have been recovered so far and rescue operation is still on. District administration has claimed that several people swam ashore after the incident and returned to their homes. Dewas collector Pushplata Singh said that only three people are now missing as per the reports filed in police station. Driver of the ill fated bus has been arrested. A magisterial enquiry has also been ordered in to the incident. Local people in Khategaon today expressed their anger against the district administration and local MLA over their alleged indifferent attitude towards the victims. Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a compensation of one lac rupees to the kin of the deceased and ten thousand to those injured.
