In Madhya Pradesh, Finance Minister Raghav ji presented the budget for the year 2012-13 in the assembly in Bhopal today. It estimates a total expenditure of eighty thousand thirty crore rupees for the next financial year. The budget has provision of 7710 crore rupees for the energy sector which is 49 percent higher than last year. Budgetary provisions in other sectors have been also substantially increased. Our correspondent reports that now clothes and sugar will be costlier in Madhya Pradesh as the Finance Minister increased VAT on these products while he reduced 1.75 percent Vat on petrol. In his budget speech, Raghav ji announced several new schemes including the chief minister's urban water supply mission, chief minister's infrastructure mission and chief minister's cleanliness mission. He announced that the state government will provide pension to those parents who have only daughters. A provision of three crore rupees have been made for this purpose. He also announced an additional DA installment of seven percent for the state's employees.
