Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the union health ministry and Hospital Services Consultancy Cooperation India Limited for strengthening and upgradation of Arunachal State Hospital at Naharlagun. Chief Secretary Tabom Bam, Joint secretary of Union health ministry Shakuntala D Gamlin and director (Engineering) of the consultancy agency, G Pandey signed the memorandum during an impressive function held at the Itanagar Banquet Hall last evening. Arunachal Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin, his cabinet colleagues, high level civil and police officials were present on the occasion.Terming the day as a ‘red letter day’, Gamlin lauded the Union health ministry for extending all possible help to upgrade the 140 bedded hospital to a 300 bedded multi-disciplinary hospital. He said whatever fund the state receives from the Centre will be properly utilized. Joint secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin, who led a three-member team to sign the MoU said the ministry had sanctioned Rs 185 crore for the project which will be completed in 24 months. She added the hospital will be subsequently upgraded to a medical college.
