A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today among Railways, Kolkata Port Trust and Kolkata Municipal Corporation for river front beautification in Kolkata. <br/><br/>The MOU was signed in presence of the union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Railway Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee, Union Minister of State for Shipping Mr. Mukul Roy and Mayor of Kolkata Mr. Shovan Chatterjee. Speaking on the occasion the Union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said that the beautification along both sides of river Hooghly will create new opportunities for economic development in the State as well as it will come up as a major tourist destination also. <br/><br/>The Railway Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee said that the project wills expedite economic development of the State. The Central Public Sector undertaking RITES has been entrusted to prepare a master plan for the beautification project.
