Motion to discuss FDI with voting provision allowed in LS

A motion to discuss Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail sector with voting provision, has been allowed in the Lok Sabha. Admitting the motion today, Speaker Meira Kumar said that she has received 30 notices for discussion under Rule 184 that entails voting. She said the date and the time for discussion will be announced later.

Welcoming the Speaker's decision, the Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj hoped that the House will now run smoothly.
However, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for one hour with the BJP members asking the government to clarify its stand on the FDI issue. As the din continued, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari adjourned the House till Noon.
