Motihari-Amlekhgunj oil pipeline further strengthens India-Nepal relations: Nepal's Industry Minister

Nepal's Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav has said Motihari-Amlekhgunj oil pipeline will be a strong foundation to further strengthen India Nepal relations. Speaking at a programme in Amlekhgunj yesterday, he said the pipeline will make a significant contribution to the prosperity of the country and its people. Mr Yadav and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri visited petroleum pipeline at Amlekhgunj on Tuesday.<br />''<br />''The landmark petroleum products pipeline has been completed and ready for commercial operation. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) had successfully completed the testing transfer of the pipeline last week. This is the first transnational petroleum pipeline form India and first South Asian oil pipeline corridor. It is also the first oil pipeline in Nepal. <br />''<br />''The prestigious project is expected to be inaugurated soon by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli. The 69 km long pipeline has been constructed by India in 15 months, half of its 30 months deadline. It will ensure smooth, cost-effective and environment-friendly supply of petroleum products to Nepal. <br />
