Iraqi forces have retaken the main government offices in Mosul as the offensive continues to oust the Islamic State (IS) militants. Lieutenant Colonel Abdel Amir al-Mohammadawi, a spokesman for the elite interior ministry Rapid Response units said a special Rapid Response team stormed the Nineveh govern orate building and the surrounding government complex in an overnight raid. <br/><br/>He said seizing the government complex would help Iraqi forces attack the militants on the heavily populated old city, where the militants are still entrenched. Mosul is the last stronghold for IS in Iraq. The east of the city was recaptured in January.
