Most parts of north India experienced widespread rains for the second successive day on Wednesday. Many rivers in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh are in spate owing to incessant rain. In Punjab and Haryana the mercury stayed within the normal range with light showers in many areas. Monsoon rain also continued to lash Rajasthan with Jaipur recording a downpour of 16.6 mm. While in the national capital, with the blazing sun, the mercury settled one degree above normal at 35 degree.
