Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and fisheries Dr. L. Murugan has appealed to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to take steps to immediately secure the release of 23 fishermen from Tamil Nadu who are detained by Sri Lankan Navy.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #000000;">In a letter to the External Affairs Minister, Dr. Murugan referred to the memorandum received from 66 fishermen villages of Nagapattinam, Karaikal and Mayiladuthurai seeking the release of the fishermen along with their boats. The fishermen were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy a few days back for fishing in Sri Lankan waters.</span><br />
