<span style="color: #222222;">Minister of State for Fisheries Dr L Murugan has assured that funds won't be an impediment in promoting the country's fishery sector. He reviewed the progress of the proposed development of the Kasimedu Fishing Harbour in Chennai as a world standard facility with the Chennai Port Trust officials on Tuesday. Later, talking to reporters, he said the proposals from the state government on fishing sector projects will be considered favourably.<br />''<br />''Dr Murugan said the tender for the Kasimedu Fishing Harbour works will be finalized in the next fifteen days. The harbour with integrated facilities like cold storage, processing units and exports infrastructure will be ready for use in eighteen months from the day of launching of the works. He said the total project cost of 98 crore rupees will be fully shared by the Centre, with the Fisheries and the Shipping Departments sharing half the cost each.<br />''<br />''The Minister said, the Detailed Project Report for establishing the country's first sea weed park has been received from the Tamil Nadu Government, which is being processed. He said the probable location for the project will be Ramanathapuram district. He expressed hope that women self help groups will be greatly benefited from the project.<br />''<br />''Dr L Murugan said five fishing harbour project works are now underway in Tamil Nadu.<br />''<br />''When asked about the issue of impounding of fishing boats by Sri Lankan Navy, the minister said, efforts are on to retrieve them through diplomatic channels. He said the External Affairs Ministry has been requested to reconvene the meeting of the Joint Committee comprising the representatives of the external affairs and fishing ministries of both the countries among others to discuss about the fishermen issues.</span><br />
