Mortal remains of Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh consigned to flames with full state honours

In Punjab, the mortal remains of Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh, who was killed in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, were consigned to flames today at his native village Wayin Pooyin in Tarntaran district with full state honours. The 42-year-old soldier, who belonged to the army's 22 Sikh Infantry, was beheaded yesterday by Pakistani troops, who similarly mutilated the body of Head Constable Prem Sagar of the BSF's 200th Battalion. <br/><br/>A large number of people from his village and surronding areas, besides his family and friends, paid their last respects to him. Senior officers of 22 Sikh Unit and Deputy Commissioner of Tarntarn on behalf of Punjab government paid last tributes to the martyr.<br/><br/>The Deputy Commissioner of Tarntaran has announced to give financial aid of 6 lakh rupees and other facilities to the family of the martyr. The father of the martyr Udham Singh said that he is proud of his son's sacrifice. He said that Centre should give befitting reply to Pakistan. The wife of the martyr Paramjit Kaur demanded that the Centre should give free hand to army so that Pakistan is taught a stern lesson.
