The Government has declared a seven-day national mourning as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral who passed away yesterday. The departed leader will be given a state funeral. This was decided at a special Cabinet meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to pay tribute to the late leader. Gujral will be cremated at 3 pm today near Smriti Sthal. His body will be kept in state for the public to pay respects at his residence in Janpath central Delhi this morning.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of former Prime Minister I.K Gujral. In her condolence message the Bangladesh Prime Minister described Mr. Gujral as a true friend of Bangladesh and recalled the important role he played in the signing of the Ganges treaty between Dhaka and New Delhi.
