Mortal remains of Former Union Minister and MP Digvijay Singh were consigned to flame at his native village Nayagaon in Jamui district of Bihar this afternoon. Cousin brother of Digvijay Singh lit the funeral pyre amid chanting of Vedic mantras. Thousands of mourners including RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, LJP President Ram Vilas Paswan , MPs, legislators and many ministers of the state government had thronged the crematorium to bid adieu to the departed soul. Digvijay Singh breathed his last at St Thomas Hospital where he was being treated for heart ailment on June 24. He suffered a brain hemorrhage while he was in the hospital. <br/> The 55-year-old Singh, an independent member of the Lok Sabha from Banka in Bihar, is survived by his wife and two daughters.<br/> He had served as Minister of State for Railways and MoS for External Affairs in the union government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee . Singh had fought the last Lok Sabha election as an independent after being denied ticket from JD(U) despite being a sitting MP. <br/>
