Mortal remains of BSF soldier killed in Darjeeling brought to his home

In Karnataka, the mortal remains of the BSF soldier Mr Gangadhar, who died in Gorkhaland strife in West Bengal early this week, was brought to his home village Yannamgur, near Devanahalli town today. <br/><br/>Mr Gangadhar had been serving in BSF for the last 17 years and was killed during the strife, during violent protest in Darjeeling by locals demanding a separate Gorkhaland. The body was cremated with full state honours, even as the villagers and the family members bid a tearful adieu to the soldier. <br/><br/>The body of Mr Gangadhar was airlifted from Kolkata to the international airport here today. Later it was taken in a open military vehicle and was kept for public view at a school in Devanahalli town close to his village.<br/><br/>Chikaballapur Lok Sabha member and former chief minister Veerappa Moily, legislators, other political leaders, villagers, school students and thousands of other people paid their last respect to the dead soldier.
