The President today lauded the relief and rehabilitation efforts undertaken by defencepersonnel in cloudburst-affected Leh but said much more work needs to be done before the onset of winter there. Mrs.Pratibha Devisingh Patil met the victims of the flash flood in Leh today said, the entire country is with the people of Laddakh in this difficult hour. She also visited a relief camp set up for the victims of the flash floods. The cloudburst on the night of the 5th of last month led to flash floods and mudslides which claimed over 175 lives and injuredabout 400 people, besides causing widespread damage to public and private property. She told the defence people to continue with rehabilitation work as the damagehas been widespread and, moreover before the onset of winter,much work needs to be done to help rebuild the homes and livesof the people of Ladakh. She also appreciated the doctors from the Army andCommended the special efforts made to locate missing personneland rescue the stranded people, including foreign tourists.
