More welfare schemes must come under e-payment mode: President

President Pranab Mukherjee has said that Government must expand its e-governanace capabilities to transform India into a financially inclusive society. Addressing the 40th Civil Accounts Day function in New Delhi today, Mr Mukherjee said Direct Benefit Transfer scheme has made significant progress in reaching out to the excluded segment of the society. He said, DBT has also brought down corruption. <br/><br/>The President said more welfare schemes must come on the e-platform to increase its reach. Mr Mukherjee asked the Comptroller General of Accounts to present the fiscal data in a more simplified manner for the public. <br/>Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said such occasions provide an opportunity to reflect on the past achievements and ponder over future opportunities. Mr Jaitley recalled contributions of Mr Mukherjee towards economic and financial sector reforms including public financial administration.
