In Punjab, five state Government agencies, FCI and private millers procured more than 71 lakh 31 thousand tonnes of wheat in the state till last evening. An official spokesman said in Chandigarh that Government agencies procured 71 lakh 19 thousand tonnes whereas private traders purchased 12,204 tonnes of wheat. He said that more than five lakh tonnes of wheat is arriving in the market for sale daily. He said that MARKFED with 17 lakh 18 thousand tonnes is leading, followed by PUNSUP with 16 lakh 47 thousand tones. The Central Government agency FCI has been able to procure 9 lakh 81 thousand tonnes of wheat in the state. Sangrur district with 8 lakh 55 thousand tonnes of procurement is leading in procurement operations.
