This is one of the consituency where BJP and Congress are at logger heads.Mayura Jayakumar of the  Congress is contesting from here.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">As a whole it  will be a three cornered contest. Udhayanidhi the son of DMK leader M.K.Stalin</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">and the grandson of DMK Patriarch Karunanidhi is contesting from Chepauk, the constituency from which his father faced election for six times and his grandfather Karunanidhi faced the election thrice.Later constituency came to be known as Chepauk -Tiruvallikeni. DMK won the constituency seven times. The constituency fell vacant last year after the death of Anbalagan. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Actress Kushboo is also contesting for the first time from the Thousand lights constituency. She is fielded against Dr. Ezhilan of the DMK. Though DMK has won over the constituency nine times. It is interesting to know that Ku Ka Selvam who was elected from this constituency and is a member of the extended family of the DMK has switched over to the BJP. </span>
