More than 50 percent of the war displaced Tamil civilians living in various camps have been resettled in their places of origin. Minister of Human Rights and Disaster Management, Mahinda Samarasinghe during a media briefing said that the number of Internally Displaced in the Welfare Village in Vavuniya remains at a little over 87000. <br/>Speaking to AIR, the Competent Authority for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Vavuniya, Major General Kamal Gunaratne said that the IDPs who are being resettled are being given dry rations and cash assistance of 50,000 rupees. He also expressed gratitude to India for providing the roofing sheets, which are also being given to the Tamil displaced civilians who are being helped to resettle.<br/>
