In Odisha, more than 50 lakh metric tons of paddy has already been procured during the ongoing Kharif marketing season. As on yesterday, the state had procured a total of 50 lakh 37 thousand 257 metric tonnes of paddy from across the districts. Official sources say that an amount of about 9 thousand crore rupees is being transferred to the concerned paddy farmers.<br />'' <br />'' The total paddy procurement from farmers till yesterday represents an increase of about 8 lakh metric tons more than that collected by that time last year. District-wise, while Bargarh district tops the procurement tally with seven lakh 18 thousand tonnes of paddy, Kalahandi comes second with about 5 lakh tons. At the bottom of the list is Kondhmal- a tribal dominated district from where about 8 thousand tons of paddy has been procured so far.<br />'' &nbsp;
