In Afghanistan, more than 40 militants have been killed by NATO forces in separate operations over the past two days. NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement today that 30 militants were killed in an ongoing offensive operation in Reg-e Khan Neshin district of southern Helmand province during past two days. It said that the ongoing operation is focused on disrupting the militant's ability to traffic narcotics and weapons, as well as destroy IED making facilities in the province. In another operation, coalition forces killed more than 10 suspected Taliban militants in eastern Kunar province. Meanwhile, Afghan intelligence agency has said that there have been serious disagreements between Taliban leaders and their fighters within the Taliban's leading council. Spokesman of National Directorate of Security Lotfullah Mashal said, the differences have made the Taliban to step up suicide attacks in cooperation with al-Qaeda network in a bid to conceal their defeat in Afghanistan. He said military pressures by Afghan and foreign troops have forced out militants to hide somewhere in Pakistan and refuse to resume their fight in Afghanistan.
