<span style="color: #222222;">Ministry of Law and Justice has said that more than 4 crore 6 lakh criminal and civil cases are pending in the lower courts across the country.<br />'' <br />'' In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju informed that there is an increase of more than 01 crore 08 lakh in pending Criminal cases in lower courts in December this year with comparison to figures of January 2020.<br />'' <br />'' He added that in the same period 38.4 lakh more cases were added to the pending list of Civil cases across the lower courts of the country.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Rijiju said the pendency of cases in the Supreme Court and High Courts across the country stands over 57.11 lakh, out of the 69,855 cases are in Apex Court.<br />'' <br />''The Minister said several steps are being taken for quick disposal of cases in the subordinate courts which includes computerization, an increase of working strength of judicial officers, and re-engineering of court procedure.</span><br />
