Government has said that more than three lakh 50 thousand toilets have been constructed across the country under the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign as on 3rd of this month. Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani yesterday informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply. She said, States and Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings from 15 Central Ministries and more than 10 private sector entities are involved in construction of toilets in schools.<br/><br/>Ms Irani said his Ministry has taken various steps to facilitate the construction of toilets within the time frame. She said, funds were made available to States under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan for taking up the programmes. The Minister also informed that the progress is monitored on a continuous basis at the national level. She said, in addition to this, about 310 central observers were deputed to visit districts to review the progress of the Swachh Vidyalaya Initiative.
