More than 200 army & BRO personnel in Sikkim's North district to help in road connectivity

In Sikkim, more than two hundred Army and BRO personnel have been deployed at landslide affected areas in the north district to establish temporary road connectivity. Army helicopters also airlifted heavy construction equipment and dropped it at Chungthang sub- division providing logistic support to on-going restoration and rescue work. BRO sources said that efforts are being made to build temporary bridges and road diversions in problematic areas to link the north district to the rest of the state as soon as possible.Our correspondent reports that clear weather in north Sikkim today has allowed the state rescue and relief team in its rescue operation in landslide affected areas helping more flash flood victims. The state administration has declared an alert along the establishments located on Teesta and Lachung river banks and urged people to remain in safer places.
