More than 16 lakh 39 thousand street bulbs have been replaced with LED Lights throughout the country under Street Lighting National Programme.<br/><br/>Power Minister Piyush Goyal informed this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha yesterday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the SLNP on January, 2015 to attain significant savings by promoting LED based lighting.<br/><br/>The scheme is being implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited and has target to install 3.5 crore LED street lights in all the Urban Local Bodies by March, 2019. Mr Goyal also informed the Rajya Sabha that out of 18,452 un-electrified villages, more than 11 thousand 900 villages have been electrified under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.
