Government has said, more than one lakh 50 thousand people died in road accidents last year in the country. Releasing the publication Road Accidents in India-2016 in New Delhi today, Road and Transport Ministry said, last year more than four lakh 80 thousand road accidents were reported and nearly five lakh persons injured. <br/><br/>Numbers of person killed last year has increased by 3.2 per cent over 2015. On an average 1317 accidents and 413 accident deaths take place on Indian roads every day. <br/><br/>The Ministry said, age profile of road accident victims in 2016 reveals that the youth of age group 18 to 35 years accounted for 46.3 per cent. <br/><br/>While the working age group of 18 to 60 accounted for a share of 83.3 per cent in the total road accident fatalities. Road accidents in India is a compilation of data on various facets of road accidents as furnished by Police Departments of all States and union territories. <br/><br/>
