The Empowered Committee on Goods and Services Tax today said more states have agreed to the revised draft constitution amendment bill. The panel head Asim Dasgupta told reporters that centre has agreed to do away with veto power on GST rates. Mr.Dasgupta expressed hope despite differences between the centre and states over several issues, that the deadline of 1st of April to implement this Legislation will be met. Mr.Dasgupta said states have been asked to send their suggestions on the draft Constitution Amendment Bill within a month. On Central Sales Tax issue, he said that states have sent their proposal to the centre that last year’s formula of 100% compensation may be repeated. He added that the empowered group of state finance ministers will shortly meet union finance minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.
