Government has proposed measures to curb spurious drugs in market. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a two-day international workshop on patient safety and drug detection technology in New Delhi yesterday, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that government is focusing towards strengthening policies related to drug regulation and the regulatory framework in the country.He said that the Centre is mooting a proposal to set up more drug testing laborataries in various states to check the menace.Mr Bandyopadhyay said, the Ministry also proposes to augment the regulatory capacities, both in the drug and food sectors in the 12th Five Year Plan.
Speaking on this occassion, Health Secretary P. K. Pradhan stressed the need for capacity building of the drug regulatory authorities, for enhanced detection of spurious medicines.
