More consultation needed on Telengana: Centre

The Government says, more consultations with various parties are needed to resolve the Telengana issue and the exercise may take some more time. The issue figured at a high level meeting of Union Ministers in New Delhi on Friday.

Those who attended the meeting include Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Political Secretary to Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel and Union Minister and Congress General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Ghulam Nabi Azad. Talking to news persons later, Pranab Mukherjee said that they are in the process of consultations.

Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said, the Congress is doing its best to take all leaders from the three regions on board to resolve the issue at the earliest. He called upon all the stakeholders involved in the Telengana issue, to exercise restraint.

The ongoing General Strike by the state Government and transport Employees, teachers and Singareni Coal Workers continues to affect normal life in the Telangana region.
