Moradabad SSP in UP puts blame for violence in Kanth town on BJP

In Uttar Pradesh, the situation in the trouble hit area of Kanth town of Moradabad continues to be tense but peaceful. Police officials say, the situation is speedily returning to normal. Road traffic between Moradabad- Haridwar has been restored and rail route is repaired and is likely to be reopened soon. Heavy police force including eight battalions of PAC, and two of RAF are pressed in to service in and around Kanth and keeping a vigil on the situation. Police administration has lodged FIR against 500 unidentified people. So far 62 persons are arrested for Friday’s clash.

State government seems to be determined to take stern action against the rioters as DIG police Gulab singh has said that NSA will be imposed on culprits responsible for damaging the rail track. SSP Dharamveer Singh has alleged the BJP is trying to take political mileage of the incident as by elections of Thakur dwara assembly seat is to be held. However the BJP has said that the district administration is working under political pressure.

Meanwhile, Congress today blamed BJP for tension in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh and defended the Samajwadi Party government over police action. Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said there is no other option for police but to take law and order measures. He alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent, while the ruling BJP practices divisive politics.

Singhvi questioned the decision of BJP leaders led by Sardhana MLA Sangeet Som, who is an accused in Muzaffarnagar riots, to hold a 'Mahapanchayat' in the area and said it was doing it for purely electoral purposes.
