The month-long shopping extravaganza, the Dubai Shopping Festival gets underway across more than 350 shopping outlets and malls in Dubai today.The event is considered to be a shopoholics delight with people from different parts of the world flocking to the city to buy a whole range of products on discounts. The will kick off with a Carnival at Al Seef street and fireworks at Dubai Creek. Shopping malls and leading brand names have offered a whole range of products on discounts, buy one get one scheme, free goodies and raffle draws to attract the visitors. A series of cultural programs have been organized at country pavilions including the India Pavilion at Global Village in Dubai. The festival is aimed at branding Dubai as the destination for duty free and discounted transaction for the people. It has also emerged as one of the major events giving a boost to tourism and economy in Dubai According to the estimates by the organizers, last year India topped the list of visitors followed by Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom at the DSF. The last edition of Dubai Shopping Festival attracted 4.36 million visitors and total spending at the festival was around $ 2 billion.
