A two-day meeting of South Asia Forum will be inaugurated in New Delhi by the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia on Thursday in New Delhi.The Forum has been set up at New Delhi's initiative in the SAARC Group of Countries. The first meeting will focus on promoting consolidation and strengthening of economic cooperation and integration.It will also create a platform for generating debate, discussion and exchange of ideas among the Member States and recommend necessary improvements in existing SAARC mechanisms for effective implementation of programmes.AIR Correspondent reports that South Asia Foundation will promote a vision for South Asian community and South Asian Economic Union.Experts and representatives from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan and Bhutan besides India, will deliberate on these issues to take the process forward.
