Monsoon to hit capital a week in advance

The monsoon is progressing rapidly and is likely to arrive over Delhi and its neighbouring areas a week in advance. The Met Department said that it will hit the national capital by 18th of this month. Pre-monsoon showers are expected in Delhi and other northwestern parts of the country in the next three days.
The southwest monsoon will advance in the remaining parts of Gujarat, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and southeast Rajasthan during the next 48 hours.
The Met Office also said that there might be excessive rain in
the country. Our correspondent reports that in its long term annual forecast issued in April for the season and the country as a whole, normal monsoon was forecast this year with a rainfall of 98 per cent.
