Monsoon still active in north India with most rivers rising again in UP

Monsoon maintained its grip over most parts of North, Central and Eastern parts of the country as major rivers in Uttar Pradesh started swelling again at several places.

In Uttarakhand, about half a dozen houses were damaged and five persons were injured due to landslides following heavy rain.

In Uttar Pradesh, water level in major rivers is rising.

The national capital, however, remained rainless for most part of the day. The twin states Punjab and Haryana recorded heavy rainfall at some places.

In Chhattisgarh, people of about eight villages in the Raigarh district are still surrounded by flood water. The district administration has air-dropped food packets for the marooned villagers. More than 15,000 people have been kept in relief camps in this district alone.
