The monsoon session of Maharashtra Legislature will begin in Mumbai from Monday. The three week long monsoon session is likely to be stormy affair for the ruling Congress and NCP government, against the backdrop of Manatralaya fire incident and the ongoing proceedings in the Adarsh Housing Society scam.Addressing a press conference on after the customary tea party on the eve of session Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said that seven new proposed bills will be put before the session. The CM said that though some important papers were destroyed in the recent fire at the Mantralaya, it will not affect regular working of both the houses.The Chief Minister also informed that the state government is keeping the track of the matters related with the recent fire incident including, reconstruction of top three floors of secretariat building which were destroyed in the fire, fire audit of the entire secretariat building and recovery of all important data and computer files.Mr. Chavan announced the majors taken for the draught like situation in the state.Meanwhile, the opposition parties refused to attend the customary tea Party on the eve of the session today. However, the joined the casual discussion on the core issues with the ruling parties.According to the opposition leaders, Adarsh scam proceeding, involvement of critical ministers in some corruption cases, the spate of female feticides, acute water shortage in 15 districts in the state, alleged irregularities in irrigation projects, farmers' suicides and superseding of the Belgaum Municipal Corporation, white paper, mill workers houses were some issues discussed in today’s meeting. These issues are likely to dominate the monsoon session.
