Monsoon session of Manipur Assembly begins today

In Manipur, the four day monsoon session of the state Legislative Assembly began at Imphal on Wednesday. Although this is a short session, many important issues like the demands of full-fledged revenue districts of Sadar Hills and Jiribam may come up in the session. Price rise and scarcity of essential commodities in the state due to the economic blockade on the National Highways of Manipur and indefinite bandh along the National Highways to counter the economic blockade are expected to be taken up in the session. Meanwhile, the state cabinet decided on Tuesday to constitute a committee on reorganization of administrative and police district boundaries under the chairmanship of state Chief Secretary D S Poonia to look into the issues of reorganization of districts. The committee will submit a report to state government within three months on the contentious issue.
