Monsoon session: BJP leaders hold meetings to discuss floor strategy

BJP leaders held a series of meetings yesterday which culminated in top party brass and government ministers meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening to discuss the party strategy for the monsoon session beginning tomorrow. Mr Modi held close to two and a half hour meeting with party leaders and government ministers at his official residence in Delhi. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that the leaders gave final touches to their strategy to counter likely opposition onslaught in Parliament during the session. <br/><br/>The meeting with Prime Minister came after party president Amit Shah held meetings with Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Piyush Goyal, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and party spokespersons. The leaders discussed the party's line of defense over Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam as opposition parties have closed their ranks to counter the NDA government on these issues.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, official sources said that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan last night met Mr Shah in Delhi and briefed him on various matters related to Vyapam scam. They said, both leaders are understood to have discussed ways to counter the Opposition, which is also seeking Mr Chouhan's resignation over his alleged involvement in the scam.
