Monsoon session adjourned ahead of schedule on request of MPs: Pralhad Joshi

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has said that Monsoon Session of Parliament was not adjourned four days in advance, as is being claimed but only two days ahead of schedule. He said, this decision was taken on the request of MPs including those from Opposition.
''
''In a tweet, Mr Joshi said, opposition leaders Jairam Ramesh and Gaurav Gogoi peddled some lies at a Press Conference. He said, opposition's propaganda is discussion but agenda is disruption and boycott.
''
''The Minister said, they could have raised any issue through calling attention, Rule 377, zero hour and question hour, etc, but they walked away during discussion on Price rise which they were demanding since the beginning.
''
''He said, it was the congress which had shaken the pillars of democracy in 1975. Mr Joshi said, during the dark days of Emergency, the entire country suffered at the hands of a single family that continues to consider itself bigger than the nation. He said, even today, they are leaving no stone unturned by not allowing Parliament, the temple of democracy, to debate on National Issues.
''
''The Minister said, more than 50 per cent of the time in the recently concluded session was sacrificed through disruptions. He said, the election results of different states clearly shows who the public is shunning. Mr Joshi said, personal issues of a family relating to alleged corrupt practices are being made party issue wasting Parliament's time. He said, they are more interested in protecting a family at cost of public interest.
''
''Mr Joshi said, it is wrongly accused that they did not allow the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2022 to be passed. He said, it was listed for introduction only. The Minister said, keeping the importance of this Bill in mind, it is being sent to the Standing committee for examination and report. He said, additionally, the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2022 is also being referred to the Standing Committee by Presiding officers.
''
''Mr Joshi said, such rumour mongering incidents expose Opposition's double face in front of public. He said, 32 tentative bills were listed for information of MPs, so they get prepared for debate whenever these bills come up in Houses. The Minister asked is providing the list in advance to MPs bad or good?? He said, we leave this decision to the MPs and public.
''
''Mr Joshi said, sometimes opposition says less number of Bills have been passed and sometimes they say so say many Bills have been rushed through. He said, they themselves are confused just like their leader.
