Monsoon rains have revived in the worst-hit central India and southern peninsula regions that would help boost kharif crops and water level in reservoirs. Monsoon deficit has been estimated to be at 12 per cent so far this season. <br/><br/>However, the rain deficit in the southern peninsula was 22 per cent and in central India was 16 per cent, according to India Meteorological Department data.<br/><br/>IMD Director General L S Rathore said monsoon rains have already revived from today in south peninsula and central India. <br/><br/>He said more rains are likely in the region as pressure is building in the Bay of Bengal and moving into inland by 15th of this month. He said revival in rains augur well for kharif crops and would also help narrow rainfall deficit in September.
