Monsoon revive with vigour in most parts of the country

South west Monsoon has been very active in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh. According to the Met department rain and thundershowers are expected to occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, UP and some parts of Rajasthan. In the national capital the sky will remain generally cloudy with few spells of rain and thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 35 and 27 degrees respectively. In Uttarakhand heavy rain hit the road transport in many places of the state. More than 250 mm rain recorded at Haldwanee Khateema and Sitarganj Sub Division of Kumaun region. Meanwhile four persons died in this area because of rain during last twenty four hours. Many link roads and some highways including Rishikesh- Badree Nath national highway have been blocked at various places due to landslides. Pilgrims of Badree Nath and Hemkund Sahib were stranded at Lambagar and Chinka. Due to lack of supplies of essential commodities villagers of remote areas are facing problem in Chamolee District, where rain has continue from last four days. Meanwhile many villages of Khateema and Sitarganj Sub Division of Udham Sing Nagar become flooded. According to District Magistrate hundreds of villagers were rescued to safer places. He told that four persons swept away in the District during last 24 hours. Director Met Department Aanand Shama predicts that heavy rain may occur in some places whereas light to moderate rain may occur in major parts of the state in coming 24 hours.
