In Uttar Pradesh, monsoon remains active in various parts of the state. According to Met office, the clouds are moving towards western UP where heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted during next 24 hours. Meanwhile, five people, including two children, were killed in the incidents of house collapse in Sultanpur district while two women died in Fursatganj area of Amethi today. With this the toll during the current spell of monsoon, has mounted to over 47 in the state. Major rivers continued their rising trend with Ghaghra flowing above the danger mark in Barabanki, Gonda, Faizabad and Ballia. AIR Correspondent reports that the crop of Sugarcane has been damaged in Kushinagar due to excessive rain.Over 3 lakh cusecs of water has been released from Valmiki Nagar Barrage on the embankments of Burhi Gandak are threatened. The rain has, however, slackened in eastern Uttar Pradesh, but heavy rain is expected in western districts. The roads have been badly damaged due to continuous downpour and waterlogging. Meanwhile, the authorities are making assessment of loss to life and property and are providing relief to the victims of nature’s wrath.
