Monsoon rain lashed many parts of northern states on Saturday claiming six lives in rain-related incidents in Jammu. Torrential showers triggered landslides and flooding.
Heavy rains lashed the national capital Delhi, leaving several roads waterlogged and causing traffic snarls in many areas.
In Jammu and Kashmir, six persons were killed and ten others injured in three separate incidents of House collapse in Udhampur and Kathua districts of Jammu division. While three persons were killed in village Barmeen, 35 kilometres from Udhampur, three others were killed in Basantpur area of Basohli in Kathua district.
our correspondent reports that, the incessant rains from the last couple of days followed by flash floods in Jammu division have not only claimed several lives but have also caused extensive damage to various roads and bridges.
Various link roads in Kathua, Udhampur and Samba districts have got closed due to landslides and damage to the main roads. House collapse incidents have come from almost all the districts of Jammu Division which have not only resulted in deaths and fatal injuries to occcupants but caused extensive damages to household items also.
In Uttar Pradesh, major rivers remained above the danger mark as the monsoon deluge continued in most parts of the state. Amethi and Hathras recorded 8 cm each, followed by Mathura and Nakur.
