Second half of the monsoon has intensified over most parts of northern India with widespread rainfall in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and parts of Rajasthan. Water level has risen in many rain fed rivers, increasing the danger of floods in these areas. Fairly widespread rainfall has also occurred over Madhya Pradesh, some areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The national capital Delhi witnessed a widespread rainfall this morning which has brought the mercury down and relieved the delhiets from the hot and humid conditions.
