The much-awaited monsoon is likely to hit the national capital and parts of north India by the weekend. Monsoon was to hit the national capital by 29th of June but has been delayed by a week.
However, Delhi and parts of north India might see rain spells and cloudy skies because of the trough extending along the foothills of Himalayas. Director, IMD, B P Yadav said that moist winds from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea have started flowing, resulting in the increased humidity level and largely cloudy sky.
Meanwhile, the South West Monsoon has advanced into the entire Himachal Pradesh and several parts of the state including the capital Shimla experienced heavy overnight rains.
In Uttar Pradesh, the much awaited monsoon hit in and around Lucknow today. Rain showers are lashing the city since this morning.
