Heavy rains lashed several parts of north India including the national capital for the second successive day today that kept the mercury below normal. Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana too received downpour as the monsoon remained active in the northern belt that helped to wipe out rain deficiency to a large extent. Shimla in Himachal Pradesh experienced 49 mm of rains in just three hours while Bharwain in Una district was wettest in the state, recording a rainfall of 110 mm. The national capital, the day began with humidity on a higher note, resulting in inconvenience to the citizens. But the sky opened up in the later part of the day, giving relief to Delhiites.
