The MeT department has said that the monsoon is expected to hit Kerala by tomorrow.
In a statement, the MeT department said that the monsoon is on time and conditions are favourable for the onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala and its further advancement to some parts of Tamil Nadu and parts of Bay of Bengal by tomorrow evening.
Met Office Director Dr. K Sathosh told our correspondent that thick dark clouds have formed over Kerala and Lakshadweep. He said, the state is expected to receive heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
As winds reaching speed upto 55 kilometres per hour are likely, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
The MeT department also said that conditions are also favourable for advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of northeastern states by Friday.
Officials in the weather department said that the monsoon is expected to be below normal because of the El-Nino effect, which is generally associated with the warming of ocean water.
