Monsoon cricket tournament in C'garh from June 1

In a bid to promote sports among tribal youth in Bijapur district which is considered as naxal hotbed, the local administration has decided to organise a cricket tournament from next month. Collector Md Qaiser Abdul Haque said on Thursday that Chief Minister Raman Singh will inaugurate the newly built stadium at Bijapur town on the 29th of this month. Later, an open tournament called 'Bijapur Monsoon Cricket', will be held from June 1. Haque who is also the president of the tournament's organising committee said the tournament will help the tribal youths from remote areas to showcase their sporting talent, besides encouraging them to come together for a better cause. The winning team will be awarded with a cash prize of 21,000 rupees while the runner up will get 15,000 rupees.
