The much awaited South-west Monsoon has covered entire Andhra Pradesh. Delayed by almost a week, monsoon’s arrival on Sunday, has lifted the spirits of the farmers in the state who are preparing for agricultural activities. AIR correspondent reports that most of the places in the State especially Telangana, Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh are receiving widespread rains according to the Cyclone Warning Centre. The capital Hyderabad received the season’s first spell of heavy rain yesterday alongside some places like Nalagonda, Medak in Telagana region and Machilipatnam, Gudivada in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and scattered rains at few other places. Rainfall ranging from 2-10 cms was recorded at various places during the last 24 hours. Though the normal advent of the south-west monsoon for Andhra Pradesh is around 10th or 12th of June it has been delayed by 5 to 7 days due to lack of sufficient and necessary conditions to favour its movement further. The weather man predicts more rains in the week ahead and would fill the deficit due to its delayed arrival. There seems to be an end to the power cut woes of the people as the demand for consumption is coming down and soon it is hoped that the power holidays declared by the AP Transco to the industry would be lifted up.
